I need help with the village of Kambs [near Roebel]. I have not found
anything about the village but this is the area from which my Holtz
family came. Birth records I have are from the cathedral in Ratzeburg.
I have a difficult time with the governmental rule at the time they were
born--so many changes.
I have a birth record for Heinrich Ludwig Holz 1814 in Sembzin. Most of
his children were born in Kambs. They emigrated to the U.S. When some
of the granddaughters were married in U.S. they gave their residence in
Germany as Hamburg. But where did Heinrich's mother Catherine Holz come
from ?
If anyone can give me information about the town of Kambs, Sietow,
Sembzin, or Poppentin I would appreciate it very much.Phyllis [Holtz] Smith
