Hohenthorn bey Stade?

Dear List-members,

Please help me identify this place/word if you would. The following link to a jpg image shows a segment of a marriage record of two of my ancestors:

It appears to read "burger und eigenwohner von den hohenthorn bey Stade". First, am I reading this correctly? Second, to where might this be referring? Is "hohenthorn" a proper place name or common noun? I can find no "Hohenthorn" near Stade (in Landkreis Stade).

Hopefully someone on the list may have run across this, can identify this place or word or can point me to a good gazetteer for this region.

Hello Brad,

you are nearly right. It is to read: "Buerger und Eigenwohner vor dem Hohenthore bey Stade".
That means "citizen who lives in his property in front of the Hohentor (a gate of the city) near (of) Stade".

Stade had suburbs named according to the town gates.
The Hohe-Thor-Vorstadt (Suburb of the Tall Gate) was one of them.

Dear Brad!
There is a street Hohentorsbr�cke today in Stade. Here is a maplink:

It is a place close to the former city wall.
