Greetings,
I am trying to locate the hometown of my great-greatgrandfather, Albert
Heuer (c. 1859/DEU - 1900/Ohio, USA). I have conflicting information and
need some help sorting it out.
Albert emigrated from Hamburg on 17 Jun 1893 on the ship Essen. He traveled
with his wife, Pauline, and six children. The passenger list has the name of
the hometown scratched out twice. The only readable word is Anhalt. (I can
send a photo file of this portion of the list if needed.)
Albert and Pauline's death certificates both list Bernberg as the place of
birth, but that could be a missspelling of Bernburg. Two of their children
visited Germany about 30 years ago, and they told my aunt the hometown was
Nienberg.
I have looked at all of the LDS files for Heuer and for Bernburg and found
nothing. I would appreciate any help in figuring out what Albert's hometown
is. I would also very much like to find any cousins that may still be in
Germany.
Thank you.
