Hauszimmergeselle?

Hello -

Could someone tell me what the U.S. equivalent of a Hauszimmergeselle might
be? Is this like a finish carpenter out here - i.e. someone who does the
finish carpentry work inside a house? or........?

(The occupation of my gr-grandfather was listed as Hauszimmergeselle in
information I received from the Luebeck Stadtarchivs.)

Hello Howard Erbst,
I could imagine that "Hauszimmermeister" was contrary of "Schiffszimmermeister",
a carpenter working on houses (instead of ships)
