have you checked the ship records? Usually they list the hometown, where the immigrant came from. In my case, I actually found Dickersons, first emmigrating to Prussia from Scotland, then to the States.

Actually no. I saw the surname and thought I
could make a connection for someone as the
Haupt surname married into the Schulte's of
South Manitowoc - North Sheboygan Counties
area of Wisconsin.
As for researching, I would better leave that to
a Haupt or Haupt descendant and my cup has
run over, and onto the table, and onto the floor,
and out the door with other surnames if you
get my drift!!!
If you ever do find a connection, I do have the
information of that area. Also, I do not know
if your fellow researcher in Germany understood
what I meant in my message. Maybe you could
give him the meaning in German as my German
language skills are not that good.
