Hello Fellow Genealogists,
GROCHOWSKI, GROESCHKE, GRKE(?)is also suggested,
Julius/Julian. I am trying to find my Grandfather, GROCHOWSKI, Julius,
b. 21 August 1860, perhaps in the area of Posen. Family History says he
was Prussian. Spoke German. Was Evangelical Lutheran. He did NOT speak
POLISH.
Julius is a complete mystery.
Family History says that he came by boat to Stonington, CT. (Probably a
fishing boat.) He may have indentured himself to pay for passage
to CT, USA. Shortly after he came to Norwich, CT., he married Charlotte
GRODOTZKE, 15 April 1883 there.
He lived out his life in Norwich and died, 17 April 1935. Charlotte had
preceeded him. After Charlotte died, Julius no longer had a will to
live.
