German History

Hello List:
The message from FRED, beginning: "The 30 Years War (1618-1648)
was a religious war for power and predominance of one
belief over another. People thought they were killing each other for God but
in the background was a fight for property and power of the various rulers. "

I could be wrong , but seems My history books indicate that Martin Luther,
made it Clear what the problem was. Indulgences for mis-conduct in exchange
for payment to Catholic Church. It was at the time also said to be un-natural for
the German Money to 'fly' over the Alps to Italy.

Martin Luther lived one hundred years before the 30 Years War. So the situation was a lot more complicated than when you are p roposing.

It's nearly impossible to separate politics from religion in those centuries.
