Friends,
If you do research on the Web, sooner or later (yesterday for many of you) you will run into PDF files. Although these files often are large (and slow to download) and sometimes may be difficult for the handicapped to access, they are very convenient for sharing information.
If you have a scanner, you may be able to scan documents as well as photographs. Many scanners will create PDF files of documents.
If you encounter PDF files on a Web site, usually they will refer you to the Adobe Web site. PDF files can be viewed with the free Adobe Reader which is available at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. NOTE: You can download the Adobe Reader in several languages; just choose the version that is right for you.
On a related note, it would be very difficult for me to create a word processing document that I then could run through a translator. Its not just the German characters; it also is just a basic understanding of the language and knowing the printed characters.
Hope this clarifies PDF question.

Good Morning,
A recently newly found cousin in Alsace sent me two pictures by PDF Files, I printed them out, and they were very disappointingly black and white, I ask Pierre if he could send them by JPG, he found a friend JP, in France who could send them jpg, WHAT
a joy to see distant cousins, 8th generation, setting at the table celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary in 1950, with grandmother wearing her big hat, that looked like a giant bow about 1' each way from the back of her head.
