My name is Dianne Timmerman. I have quite a list of German surnames that I am researching. If there is a match to any of you I would like to hear from you. My surnames: August BAIE born Brunswick Germany, came to US we think in the 1850's settled in Hinkley, DeKalb Co., IL His first wife was Caroline LEIFHEIT who came to US at age one in 1852 from Brunswick Germany. Henry LEIFHEIT was Caroline's father and her mother was Fredereke HARTMAN. Henry's parents were Frederick LEIFHEIT and Hattie BORCHAS. Fredereke's parents were Christian and Johanna HARTMAN. I am also researching the TIMMERMAN line from Oberbauerschaft and the PLOEGER line. The TIMMERMAN and PLOEGER lines settled in Iowa and were farmers. The other settled in Illinois and many if not all of them farmed. I believe them all to have been Lutheran.
