Hello I have just joined the forum.

I recently discovered that my ancestral family came from Diephalz,
Hanover.
My 4x gt grandfather was a royal forester in Barnstorff, by the name of
Otto OPPERMAN.

I wondered if anyone might know to which royal household, he would have
been forester, and just what this meant.

Terry

Hi Terry White,

an actual adress, respectively the one from 1998 of the forestry-district in Barnstorf is:

Staatl. Revierförsterei
Markonah
Walsener Str. 10
49406 Barnstorf

Tel. 05442 2253

Maybe they still have some documents about earlier foresters or know where these could be found. The title "royal forester" should have meant in general no common household with any royalty, but doing the work as a forester on the land owned by king or other royalty and /or being in charge of the royal administration. That should be in so far the common understan-ding of "Königlicher Revierförster". Depending on time and local circumstances there might be of course also differences.
