Files/Kartei "Quassowski"

Dear english-speaking listmembers,

the "Quassowski"-Kartei" - like Henning wrote - consists of 23/24 books.
Each one has betweeen 100 and approximately 700 pages! They are a "result"
of Dr. Quassowski's note sheets which he wrote down for 50 years! (Who lives
long enough? ;-). These notes have been compiled into books by various
members of the VFFOW (Verein für Familienforschung in Ost- und Westpreußen)
for over 15 years! Some of these editions are not available anymore. If they
will be printed again - I think - depends on the request of members and
interested people.

The search for names can never be done by one person alone - numerous members
who have these files/books at home have to "kick in" - and besides - cooperate
among each other by negotiating who is taking over which request. This is not
always possible over a mailing-list, since many times, a list-member does not
know who got the whole "Q" and who only has some books available.

Henning, others and me tried to answer some of the research questions, however,
the requests started to become too many - also regarding that we receive a lot
of private e-mails requests "on the side". This "job" is too much, and I hope
that you have enough understanding and consider that we all have a working
life, a household and family members to take care of as well.

LOVE to everyone, and kind regards,

Gisela

Thank You Gisela for this information. I had alway wondered about the
Quassowski-Kartei, what they were and what kind of information they had.
Thanks for taking the time to explain this.

Best wishes to all the members, English and German speaking. W.Toews

Hello Gisela:
I have a printed out sheet from my local Family History Center which lists the 23
books you mentioned. The title is "Die Kartei Quassowski" and is described as
Books/Monographs. It lists which letters would be in which book. It says nothing at
all about whether these books would be available for circulation, or how they could
be used. I was under the impression that there is at least one university library
that has a copy, which would be helpful because one could write for a look-up.
This page from LDS files tells very little about how to use them. It just lists
them.
