My grandfather, Heinrich Bliesemer, was born on Fehmarn, 1861.
He immigrated to USA in 1881, via Hamburg and the Port of Hull, England, to live in Calumet City, Illinois, and married Catharina Dorothea Langbehn, also from Fehmarn. The American name became Blissmer. An outline report of Ancestors and Descendents is at: BLISSMER FAMILY
Heinrich's Father, Mother, and 2 siblings immigrated in 1883, to Chicago, Illinois. The web site also shows some family for Langbehn, Schumacher, and Wulff, more Fehmarn families in Calumet City, Illinois. No research has been done for the Fehmarn name Hansen in Illinois. The Fehmarn database is also being updated with this information. I give thanks to John Kostick for his work on Fehmarn, and to Dieter Klahn for his research in the church books of Dahme. Both helped identify our German ancestors.
