Hello Gary!
A "colon" means just a farmer, who has his own land. In my family this word
is used in the 19. Century, when the land already has passed to the farmer.
A "Neubauer" is a new farmer with a new farm. That means that perhaps a
former "Heuerling" has bought land and house or barn or has build a house.
In Hille such "Neubauer" perhaps was called "eflersschren" (the Engelage
family in Hille 300), because he lives now in a barn, which former was part
of the efler farm.

"Landwirt" means farmer. "Acker" means field. "Vollmeier" is a term for a
farm with a certain size. But it is mostly used in the time, when there
still was serdom.
This was ended by Napleon. Especially afterwards you will
find many "Neubauer", because now the farmers were free to do with their
land whatever they would.
