I was told that my Ancestors where from Germany?
My Great Grandfather, Hendrik Folkens (Folkus), died in South Africa in 1895 at the age of 41. On his Death Notice it show the names of his parents: Jan Johannes Folkens and Johanna Margritha Sni...? I don't get any records for his parents.
The town that was mentioned by descendants is Stuttgart? That is all info I've got.
Do you think you could help me find the place of origin for my ancestors or any records?

Just a thought. Since he died in South Africa and his name looks kinda
Dutch to me, I'd recommend that you sign on with a Dutch email list if you
haven't already. I'd also recommend the Ostfriesen (East Frisian) list.

There are a few "Folkens" in the Netherlands. I did not see your family, but
you might look for yourself. Maybe the other ones are relatives??

I do'nt know if this is in english too, but best thing to do is to choose
"Nederland" and than "provincie" (=county). Than you can find the site of
every archive in the Netherlands.
