I too have been struggling with the archives.
I have gooten as far as to searching for the surname I want, but there is no way to find the first name of the emigrant, so you know you are ordering the correct persons info.
Also the site freezes my computer and I have to shut down, then takes forever to find the place I was at. I click on all # but never get any names. Guess I am not doing it correctly.

In order to get any records, you will have to go on the website and
follow the previous directions. If you can name exactly which ones you
want or that fits your ancestors, you click on the number for that person
and that will give you the code which is what you need to order records.
I am preparing to leave town in the morning until Saturday. I may be able

When searching the archives I remind that % (wildcard) can be used. The wildcard helpful when spelling of surname not certain. Can be helpful to try % in place of umlaut or esset as well.

Usually when there is a match to surname searched .. The surname, first name, and often occupation is listed along with the file number so that you can choose most likely match.

If your computer freezes...might be timing out...or resources maybe getting low if alot of info is being sent? Maybe try turning off unnecessary background programs temperarily...like screen saver...etc.
Seems like there is a way to set your system to allow webpages more time to download...but I forget how..maybe there is a guru here who can tell you.
