E-mails in English

Is there any way that the e-mails can be translated into English? I don't read German & feel I may be missing alot.

Ann

Hi Ann,

I think the burden falls unfortunately on you... you might want to go to
bablefish or google and run a transations into English.

Unfortunately, for English-only speakers, this venue is largely in
German.

Fuer meine Deutsche Freundin... bitte verzeihen Sie mir mein Deutsch
aber als Amerikaner muss ich alle sagen "verzeihung" das unser Deutsch
so schwach ist... Sie brauchen ueberhaupt nicht alles auf Englisch
uebersetzen.

In my humble experience with this list, I don't read German either but I have found that if I recognize a surname or village and have a question about it… I post in English and someone responds back in English…

Cheers, Frank

For our english speaking friends,

we germans dont read every mail completely too.
Its much too much information going over the channel.
Look for the family names / regions you are interested in and try to get
the information with google translator or something like that.
In 99% of cases that will work well.
The remaining questions can be solved by simply asking somebody/the list
what is going on.
Most of the information in the internet is written in english, so we have
often the same problem the other way around;)

Ann,

I use bablefish and it works fine, but a little knowledge of German sentence
structure helps.

Ich benutze bablefish und es ist, aber ein wenig Wissen der deutschen
Satzstrukturhilfen adaequat.

Sorry Ann,
Study the old hard way, After 20 odd years off and on I reached about 4th grade level ( LOL ). But as you try Most Germans are pleased to see someone trying and will help out. Maybe it helps that I'm not a Mormon and all my research privately will be for a Family book.
GOOD LUCK,
