It has been called to my attention that I made a big mistake, in that I
provided no date.
I wrote:
We seek the ancestry of the St. Louis DEWES family. We have exhausted the
possibility of a connection with the well-documented DEWES clan of near
Illinois and their superbly-documented cousins in Losheim. So, we suspect
that they emigrated from Britain.
The immigrant was Heinrich DEWES. We do not know when he was born or
emigrated, but he married Ann Mary BERGMANN in St. Louis in 1850; their
offspring were born 1851 to 1857.
