I am researching the Dammeyer family from Salzgitter. My ancestors in Germany were Johann Heinrich Friedrich Dammeyer (born 1826 in Vorsalz, Salzgitter and died 1904 in Salzgitter) who married Theresa Marie Langemeier about 1844; she was born 1824 in Gross Heere and died 1891 in Salzgitter). I have information that their granddaughter Frieda Dammeyer (1888-1973) was living at 29 Bergestrasse, Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
I also have another connection to Salzgitter as my great grandmother Doris Friderika Wilhelmina Gremmel (born 25 June 1847) was born there. Her husband, my great grandfather, Henry John Albert Dammeyer, was a musician and he immigrated to the USA in 1887, arriving in New York on May 3. They married in New York City. Have original Confirmation Certificate, dated May 13, 1859, from the Kirchensiegel von Salzgitter, that verfied father of Henry John Albert as Heinrich Dammeyer and mother as Therese Langemeier.
I would be much interested in finding out if there are any church records on this family in these areas. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
