I guess that is why a lot of people wound up with different names when they
arrived in the U.S.
The corn squeezings I was referring to is alcohol which is now being massively
produced to blend with gasoline. The 10% alcohol blended gasoline reduces
vehicle emissions considerably. A side benefit is that cleaner burning fuel is
less harmful to an engine, thus longer engine life. I was taking a poke at the
SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) owners, whose 4 wheel drive vehicles never get off
a hard surface road, and California is notorious for conspicious consumption
when it comes to cars.
Europe can be thankful for their smaller cars. As you indicated, big is not
always better.
