Burgdorf

Thank you for your response to my posting. I guess you could say I took a sabbatical for other issues and I concentrated on finding my maternal great grandfather, Jacob Haas.
I will follow your suggestions starting with a search of Catholic records in Hildesheim. I have ignored that aspect of my search because I found a record that says one of Julius' sons was baptized in a Protestant church in New Orleans and Julius' wife was baptized in the Dom Catheral in Berlin. That may have been a mistake to come to that conclusion. I intend to order film from the local LDS library containing Catholic records. I know there were several Catholic churches in Hildesheim and perhaps one of you can point me to one. As I researched Julius I am convinced he was born in 1827 and the spelling of his name was BURGDORF. There are several variations of Burgdorf on records after he came to America including death records.
