Brörmann/Macke Damme

Dear list members,

My g-g-grandmother was Maria Agnes (kleine) Brörmann born 1803 who married Johann Macke born in 1804, both from Damme. As a young man, Johann worked at the Meyer zu Hofe farm just outside Damme. I only know his parents (Johann Heinrich Macke and Elisabeth Bockhorst) but no other ancestors.

Can anyone help me and tell me to which Macke family they belong?

Thanks,
Wilma van der Meijden

Hello Wilma,

the origin of Macke could be Damme-Borringhausen.
The history book listed there a farm Macke, 43 hectare, 1577 tax to Johan Bernstrup ton Vörden, later to the priests in Vörden, 1828 paid for release.

The book listed also a Meyer farm in Borringhausen, 44 hectare.

The village Damme listed gr.Brörmann(55 ha), kl.Brörmann(20ha) and Albert kl.Brörmann(14ha)
