search is for the Rappe family from Barsinghausen Hannover whose two
sons emigrated to England
The e after the o supposedly replaces the umlaut. On paper that presents no problem. It is either spelled � or oe, so you should look for both.
However, I find that in English the � and oe do not sound the same, as a result someone will spell the name just as it sounds in English. Also remember, anyone can pronounce their name anydurnedway they want to -- it is their name. That can also result in unusual spellings.
