Bertling or Berling

I hope you can help.
I am looking for Henrich Berling or Bertling Born 11/28/1835 from
Plantendorf Hannover Germany in 1845 arriving in Texas Dec 1845. His Father was
Heinrich and mother was Maria Behl. She had a son by previous marriage Christian
Tevers (might be misspelled as well) Children of Heinrich and Maria are
Dorothea, Maria and Conrad and of course Heinrich. I would like the Date of
births if any and where they were born. They were on the ship Eberhardt or
Everhardt. Thanks so much.

Hello Arleen,
the emigration book of the former "Amt Lingen" (now Emsland county) listed 4 Bertlings, but not yours.
There is a Johann Bernard Bertling born 1822 in Venhaus, catholic parish Lünne, also Plantlünne.
"Plantendorf" could be Plantlünne, parish Lünne. I think the church register you find by LDS (www.familysearch.org).
Good luck,
Werner Honkomp

Hi Arleen,

Werner Honkamp may be right when he says your family may have come
from Plantlünne. He's a lot smarter than I am!!

However, here is another suggestion. There are is a town called
Neudorf-Platendorf. Very small. Just north of Gifhorn. That could be the
Platendorf you speak of--but it also may not be! I think the name of the
town must be spelled wrong.

I thought I might look at census records to see if there is any town
listed there. So I've been trying to trace the family from the census
records --Were did the family live in 1860? Or later? They landed in Texas
and you live in Texas--so did this family also live there? There are
several persons by the name of Henry Berling/Bertling. It is a bit hard to
know who is who.

Were the family Catholic or Lutheran?

Barbara

I hope you can help.
