I am searching for the records of the permit to emigrate from
Koeslin/Koszalin , Pommern , Prussia .
    Do You know of the place that I could write to for those records ?.

    The persons records that I am looking for is of My G.Grandparents as
follows ;

  I have been searching for the birth and marriage records of My
G.Grandparents BERNHARD HAACK born 01 Nov. 1840 , and wife BERTHA
ALBERTINA
( Devonske )?( Dameschke)? born 05 Feb. 1841

Their childrens names are , Franziska ,Adolph & Richard , that were born in
Pommern .

    The Germans To America volumes , record Them as having left from
Koeslin/Koszalin , Prussia
    So I believe that They must have applied for an emigration permit from
that
town of Koeslin/Koszalin , in the year of 1872.
    They and Their three children sailed from Bremen Germany , and
arrived
at N.Y , New York on the ship " Christel " on 11 May 1872

HI Karl.

                                 By 1872, Civil records were in all probability in use in that area, so an approach to the local archive will in all likely hood provide you with a copy of that document. Generally though the original document was in the possession of the person that applied for it, so it may be with any documents that the family had/has??? I found my great Uncles permit in that way.
