Hello everyone,
I'm looking for information on four of my g'grandfather's brothers. I have some information. They were all born in Blankenese as follows:
Johann Matthias ARMBRUST b. March 7, 1845. Baptism Register No. 91 Nienstedten. Baptized June 26, 1845. Son of Ferdinand J. F. Armbrust & his wife Anna M. Tiemann.
Georg ARMBRUST b. November 29, 1849. Baptism Register No.221 Nienstedten. Baptized December 14, 1849. Same parents.
Johannes ARMBRUST b. May 28, 1858. Baptism Register No. 155 Nienstedten. Baptized June 20, 1858. Same parents.
Hinrich ARMBRUST b. after 1858. Same parents. No additional information is available at this time.
There are other children of FJFA & AMT that I have information on but I'm interested in Johann, Georg, Johannes & Hinrich in this posting.
This family were sea faring men and their father, FJFA was a ships owner and captain. Some may have been pilots in the Hamburg area, harbor or rivers. I saw an article from a 1935 publication that said "Ferdinand Jurgen Friedrich Armbrust settled in Blankenese in 1842 and married Anna M. Tiemann a daughter of the cobbler Hans Hinrich Tiemann in Blankenese." "A son of the afore named, Hinrich Armbrust, died as a pilot in Hamburg." "Alive today (meaning 1935 when the book was published) in Blankenese of this name are one each, a captain, a pilot, a coxswain and a waiter."
No other information on these four men is available to me at this time, this is all I have.
If anyone has any information about these men or knows where I could find information I'd be very grateful. The reason being I have some Armbrusts in the next generation and I can't figure out which one(s) is the father of them.
Anything at all may be helpful, marriages, death reports, newspaper clips, government ledgers ... anything !
