First of all, I am most grateful that I can make my postings in English. Thank you very much. My German is OK for simple ideas, but for more complicated things - Nein!.
I was seeking information about my UrUrGrosseltern Matthaeus ROOS und Elisabetha HOCK aus "Oberndorf, Bayern". Which Oberndorf? I didn't know for sure, but it seemed to me that Oberndorf/Bischbrunn was most likely. Angela contacted me to find out if I wanted someone to do research on the question in the Diocesan archive in Wuerzburg. After thinking about the matter for a while, I finally decided to ask Angela to do the research. I was prepared to make payment in advance, but Angela would not accept any payment until the research was done. I gave her the OK to proceed on Friday, 27 June, and the work was finished by the following Wednesday, 2 July. Oberndorf/Bischbrunn war richtig! Die Ergebnisse sind wunderbar!!
Angela sent me her report by email and put the photocopies in the mail before I made payment. I was most impressed. Her charges were very fair and reasonable.
We had some luck, there was a Familienbuch that had a lot of information. However, I have gone through Familienbuecher on microfilm myself, so I know that getting out the information, especially if it is in the deutsche Schrift can be hard to do. Angela got a wealth of information in the course of one day. I was amazed! We now have a list of new ancestor surnames that I had never heard spoken of before in my family. Cool!
In summary, I found Angela to be competent, diligent, efficient, and trustworthy. I certainly would give her a good recommendation to anyone who wanted to have her do research for them.
Matthaeus and Elisabetha have a great many descendants. I don't really know the exact number, but I would guess 5,000 - 10,000. It is a pretty large family. Especially for those of us who do genealogy it is really exciting to know now who our Roos and Hock ancestors were in Germany.
