Hello,
I am new to the list and don't know enough German to communicate in the
language.
Our family tradition is the Adalbert Schneider who was the 1st Gunnery
officer on the Battleship Bismarck was a cousin. The earliest ancestor that
we have in the US is Karl Schneider b. about 1840, father Christian Schneider
and mother Katharine. (No actual birth dates known)
I have found that Adalbert was born 10 March 1904 at Halle(Saale) and left a
wife Ilse and three daughters on his death 27 May 1941.
Obviously I am looking for a connection between Adalbert and Christian.
Also does anyone know of a researcher in the area because it appears that the
LDS Library does not have any records after 1874 for Halle(Saale)?
Appreciate any help I can get on this search.
