I recently found the following entry on a Passenger List that contains two abbreviated first names.
Ship: Bark Eberhard
Arr in New Orleans: May 14, 1855
On Board:
Friedrich Steffens, age 52
Anna Steffens, age 48
Hins. Steffens, age 20
Wilhelm Steffens, age 18
Catharine Steffens, age 26
Heinr. Steffens, age 4
I think that "Heinr." is short for "Heinrich". But what does "Hins." stand for?
