I am researching the following names near Leipzig:
ZSCHAU (SCHAU, SCHAUE, ZSCHAUE) - early 1800's to late 1800's
STEPHAN- mid 1700's to late 1700's
These names can be found in the Church records for Battaune-Woellnau
Evangelisch Church. My immigrant ancestor Gottlieb ZSCHAU was born 28
September 1843, his parents were not married. Gottlieb's mothers name was
Joh. Rosina (Z)SCHAU, his fathers name is not known as he was not named on
the baptismal record.
The name of Joh. Rosine ZSCHAU's mother was Joh. Rosine STEPHAN from
Woellnau. I am trying to find information about Joh. Rosina (Z)SCHAU's
father. All that I know is that her father was named Gottlob SCHAU, and
that he was a Farmer & owner of land from Goerschlitz (G�rschlitz), his son
may have served (military?) in ?, in the Mohnmuehle (Poppy Mill) and was
appointed as a Guardian or Bailiff.
I am interested in learning more about Gottlob SCHAU from Goerschlitz but I
can't seem to get anywhere by writing to the Ev. Church in Authausen where
the church records for Goerschlitz are now kept.
