I write to you from Chicago, Illinois in hope of you assistance once again in trying to locate a
current location for the above city.
In the German church records here in Chicago I located a death record for a Johann Jors, the
great-great-grandfather of my cousin. In this record dated June, 1875 it listed Zellensdorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin as his place of birth.
This was quite a surprise as the rest of his family listed their birthplaces as Selsdorf (Sehlsdorf),
Mecklinburg.
The only Zellendorf/Zellensdorf I have been able to locate with my 19th century maps and with
Mapquest.DE is Zellendorf in the Brandenburg area.
I suppose this is a possibility as Johann is the oldest child and is 6 years older than the next child
and could have moved from one location to the other.
I would truly appreciate any assistance or advice you could give me as this family is planning a trip to Germany this summer and would like to try and visit the different parts of Germany her ancestors come from.
