The name we are looking for is not a surname but a name of a place (somewhere) in Germany..

may be it is Celle. In German "Zelle" and "Celle" are equally pronounced! Celle is a city in Lower Saxony in Germany.

Hi Albert and thank you for your reply. Yes I think we have come to this conclusion in the end that the name of the place we are looking for is Celle possibly in Hannover ? I have tried to find my ancestor FREDRIK ANDREE who arived in Ceylon in 1759, according to the DBU journals he came to Ceylon via Holland (probably Amsterdam) from (Zelle) Celle, Germany. I have search message boaerds and genealogy sites but only foudn 3 FREDRICH Andres but they were not from the same region. Fredrik Andree was supposed to have been a Soldier when he left Germany. When he went to Ceylon he was a Cannonier at the Fortress of Kalutara. This is all I or anyone in the family know about our evasive Fredrik Andree !!! I would say that Fredrik was probably born around the 1735ish mark. Considering he travelled from Germany to Holland then to Ceylon and he married the same year he arrived in Ceylon and so he must have been in his early 20s at least ?

Hi Barbara,Thank you for the Link but I already know Glenn Mellonius(from Holland), we are cousins and met each other for the first time last year (2005) in London. Yes all sightings are worth a try as one never knows ???
