"Zapf " family from Schneckenlohe

Hi, I am new to the list and are searching the surnames Zapf and Hepp. My great, great grandmother was Margaretha Barbara Zapf born Feb.14, 1834 in Schneckenlohe and probably belonged to the Evangelical parish there. Her father was Karl Zapf and her mother's first name was Barbara. She married John Henry Hepp, born Aug.11, 1828, Bavaria. They were married in Illinois USA in 1857. John Henry Hepp was some kind of patriot official and/or land owner and as the family story goes emmigrated probably without permission to New York and then hid in the mountians there for several years. It is also said that he brought 2,000 dollars with him which seems to be quite a bit for back then. I know nothing else about his family in Germany. Any information would be appreciated or suggestions on where to look from here.

Zapfendorf.
