Wwi & wwii

Hi Yvonne in Australia,

It does surprise me very much to know that in this day and age of
world wide travel and of course business and family connections that
the people of some countries are still not allowed to learn to speak
German ? It is amazing considering there are quite a lot of German
people and people of German descent living in Australia!!! What a sad
life it is not being able to learn what one wants to learn.

MaryJane ...........in a wet and windy UK .

to Maryjane - I meant when I was a child we were unable to do German as a
language - just after WW2 .\Also my poppa was mustard gassed & blinded in
the trenches of the Somme in France - so mum and my half German father
didn't think it was an appropriate language to learn under the
circumstances.
My father had enough grief when he was in the Australian Airforce as a son
of a german born father himself . h e didnt want me to be troubled etc .

You can learn any language you want to here and have been able to for many
years -
sorry for not making my comment more clearly in the previous email .
Yvonne.
