Does anyone know how to correct wrong information on the various sites when you can't contact the person who provided the information? This is in regards to my mother's family Buehne/Stoltebenn family. Their are other family names connected to this family and it bothers me that the information is wrong. The biggest mistake is the original father Henry Buehne. This was Margaretha's 1st husband and he died she inherited the farm. Then husband #2 Bernard Philip Hinkamp took her married name, so he became Bernard Philip Buehne. When he died in Germantown Illinois she was or the priest was good enough to include all his names. My stumbling block in this family is the when did they come over. I have all the information in Germany and all the information in the U.S. but I can't connect the two. Last Christmas I went to Germany and did research at Osnabruck, Paderborn. I had 3 last names, Hinkamp, Middeke and Buehne and did not find anyone for emigration. Any suggestions,. Pat Huck
Hi Pat,
Are you going back to Germany this year? There is so much evidence
that your people came from the Bersenbrück and Ankum areas. I know that you
are aware of that. The Osnabrück emigration archives certainly show that
the Middekes and Hinkamps came from there. Not your family names though, as
I remember. In the phone book there are only 9 Hinkamps and 4 live in
Bersenbrück or around there! There are many more Middeke names but there
are three listed in Bersenbrück. Two Bühnes live in Ankum.
You could write or call any of them. That is hard to do, but you could
try. Unless, of course, you do go to Germany!! Go to the Osnabrück Church
archives (they're all Catholic, right?). It's right in the center of the
city, not far from the Cathedral (Dom).
You may be interested in this family. Look around and you may find your
relatives!

The LDS have a little something on Ankum:
Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1810-1874 Katholische Kirche Ankum (Kr. Bersenbr?rch
It looks like they only have Evangelical church records listed for
Bersenbrück. Maybe the Catholics went to Ankum to church. I forget if
you're near an LDS center.
THE LDS WEBSITE is not working all that well these days.
Bye,
Barbara
This may interest you Barb. And anyone else here who's wondering what's going on lately with the LDS website.

To all German and French mail lists
Ever since the computer gurus in the Salt Lake City Family History Library have "improved" the online catalog a couple weeks ago, it is now practically unusable.
They have destroyed all the data fields that contain diacritical marks (umlauts, esszets, and other special characters). This makes it impossible to understand a hit when you get one, because several additional characters are also dropped. For example, Wrtemberg is now W?berg.
The second problem is the it may require 15 to 20 or more tries to get the record desired. The intermediate results give the message "An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator." Apparently the search engine sever is timing out.
It appears the folks at the LDS FHL bought an "improved" server that doesn't work. They better soon consider going back to the previous one that worked or we will be having a terrible time finding our records.
Fred Held
Thanks for the "explanation"! It drives me crazy. If I get an error, I go
back and click on it again and it will work---sometimes. It is bothersome
for sure. You have to try several times before it will come through.
Grrrr.
Barbara
Hi:
I ran into the mentioned problems a couple of days a go. However, in trying to find what I was looking for, I found some results which I have never obtained before, which allowed me to search in a manner similar to the codex searchs. I also found as Fred stated that many symbols, characters and maybe some letters have been convoluted to the point I had only two letters out of a six letter word. I believe that once the bugs are worked out, the program will be good. I don't understand why the program was installed before a credability run was made to determine possible errors and other problems.
I think there is a contact {e-mail} address at which light can be obtained. I don't have it, but I am sure there is one.

Hallo Pat,
my English is a little bit rusty but I think you understand what I
write:
There are two emigration archives in Westfalia whre I hope you find some
information:
http://www.lippe-auswanderer.de especially from emegrates out of
Principality of Lippe and
http://amerikanetz.de/ Westfalian network of America-Emigration since
XXIX. century.
Both in German an English language.
Good luck and 'have a good hunt'

O.K. I read online somewhere.. that wife of a Tobias Bueter was a person named Adelaide/Adelheid/Adelheit Feldhaus....
There is an online 17 page probate file dated circa 1849 for a Rudolph Veldhaus. My computer is so slow and monitor is going on the blink..but I think the names Hummert/Hammart? Hussmann/Bussman? A Catherine Wortmann? The surname Hoorman? appear in that file.
I have no idea if ^ people are related to decedent Rudolph Veldhaus. Is it possible that Catherine Wortmann was wife of Rudolph Veldhaus?
The executer for Rudolph Veldhaus appears to be named Lucas Hoppes/Hopses/Hopse? I am curius if perhaps this Rudolph Veldhaus might have been a relative of my GGGF Lukas Feldhaus who came to the U.S. in 1859...

Remember the Meyer obituary I posted couple weeks ago? The names Droege and Butz were included.
Louise Butz was dear friend of my GGM Rose Mary Krawiecki-Feldhaus. (a.k.a. Scrammy) Scrammy called her Lulabelle. I supose Lulabelles actual name was Louise Meyer-Butz.
Lulabelle's house is still standing on St. Ann Lane within eyesight of St. Ann Church in Normandy/Carsonville. A fond tall tale is that Scrammy and Lulabelle would occasionally partake a mug of draft at Whalens Saloon after attending sewing, quilting, crochet, needle point, bingo, card games, church socials..
Scrammy's sister-in-law Clara Feldhaus married Teddy Butz..a brother-in-law I think of Lulabelle...related somehow anyway...
Clara Felhaus-Butz 1903-1995 was grandchild of Lukas and Margaretha Adelheid Toben/Toebben/Toeben/Tobbe/Dobben?/Tobben-Feldhaus. Clara Feldhaus-Butz was my Great Aunt.
Aunt Gert...Gertrude Feldhaus-Meyer!!! Another Meyer..LOL..
Gertrude Feldhaus (Aunt Gertie) sibling of Clara Feldhaus-Butz..
Gee..
I wonder if my distant Butz'cousins might belong to the family tree of the native St. Louisian Norbert Butz ......affiliated with the current hit "WICKED" playing at the Fox... Wouldn't that be cool..lol.

I am thinking the bride is Catharina Grotepahler
(various spellings)***
I think this Catharina Grotepahler my 3G great Aunt of mine....lol In fact I believe she is also the godmother of my GGM Catherine Apolonia Grotepahler-Feldhaus.
Jodoci Schmallhorst? and Ida Kuhlage were also the parents of Franz Grotepahler husband of Theresia Biesemeier/Bissmeyer/Pissmeyer who was the mother of Catherine Apolonina Grotepahler-Feldhaus.
The name Heitkamp appears to look like Heinkamp or Heidkamp in baptismal records of Bissmeyer/Grotepahler children at St. Joseph's Shrine the name Heitkamp in the hand written church registers appears similar to Heinkamp or Heidkamp.
Here are some Heitkamp records..

Here is Eberhard Ortbals..but date very early. My Aunt had a good friend from Mercy High School...JoAnn we all called Kelk!! for Kelker..not sure of spelling..
Now...is this a coincidence?
My GGM Rose Mary Krawiecki-Feldhaus uncle John Krawiecki was married to a Stanislawa Majewski...in Washington County, Illinois.
Stanislawa died from complications of childbirth in 1917. On the 1920 W.C. Illinois cenus a Frances Krawiecki age 3 (Neice) was enumerated with my GGM D. Joseph and Mary Pawlak-Krawiecki. D. JOseph's brother was a widow and not able to farm and care for a baby.
Clinton County Illinois I believe used to be a part of Washington County.

P.S. Now you all probobly think me NUTZ...just that my W.C. side of the family..2 sibs so far each had at least 8 kids..
