Dear readers My mother grew up in Oldenburg during that period and as a young girl she went to these hospital trains that brought in the wounded soldiers. I don't know very much about what the duration of stay was in these train cars, but perhaps to serve as some kind of triage or something of a longer duration care. She would bring in coffee with her mother and also sing and play her mandolin.. She recalled too the constant smell of ether in these trains also. I though I would share this note and have also found the other notes very interesting and informative also. Thanks again George
