William Schwerin

Hallo Ihr lieben Hannoveraner,

Vielen Dank fr Eure Hilfe.
Klau (Vahlbruch)

Hello,

This is not terribly helpful, but if you did not know where the town of
Langelage is, I found it on Mapquest.com It is very small and is northeast
of Osnabrück, east of Bohmte and north of Ostercappeln. If you check the
German phonebook, there are several Thoerner (Thörner) names in that area:

Schwerin is more difficult to find insofar as he is listed as coming from
Germany- which is so general an area! I presume that is the right one
listed in the 1880 census on the LDS website. Have you checked other
census records to see if he always says his birthplace is Germany, but no
specific area? The city of Schwerin in Mecklenburg may be an obvious place
to look! Maybe he came from royalty! There are Schwerins listed in many
places:

Go to Gedbas and FOKO (on the right) to search for that name.

The Immigrant Ship webpage doesn't seem to work today, but try that
sometime: http://www.immigrantships.net Sometimes ship lists have the
place of origin or birthplace.

Good luck,
Barbara

Hello again,
I made a mistake. Langelage is west (not east as I said) of Bohmte.
