A few entries list a Norddrebber Province, Hannover, Germany. Others
just list Norddrebber. How was the city divided during this time period?
Thanks for your help! Any and all information is requested and appreciated!

Hello,

Norddrebber should have been more a village than a town all over the times and might be perhaps first in the younger times be seen as a smallest town. Perhaps the difference in your documen-tation is only based on a wrong use of the "comma". If you put it right behind "Norddrebber" and before "Province Hannover" it makes a correct sense, because inside Prussia Hanover was a Province, after having been still in the first part of 19th century a kingdom of its own, re-spectively in personal union with the British Kingdom.

Perhaps others might give some answers to the other points in question.

Greetings

Hans Peter Albers, Bienenbüttel

P.S.: Did you come across the name PAULING in connection with your Norddrebber researches ?

No Pauling's. My information for relatives from Norddrebber was pretty sparce. I am hoping that I can add to it soon!

What a nice surprise to see the little village of Norddrebber pop up on this list! Thank you, Hans Peter, for mentioning the name PAULING, and thank you, Falk, for the detailed history of the village. Here is a happy find for you, Andilea.

PAULING is one of the original names listed for this village and we have been privileged to visit the village several times. One occasion was the celebration of the 1000th year of the village. On that occasion I purchased a book of the History of the village and its homes. "Norddrebber 990-1990" written by Hans Ehlich.

In this book I find the following listing for
"Anbauerstelle 28 (cc), today Hauptstrasse 38.
Besitzer: Friedrich Wieters
Hofname: Rueschen - nach Juergen Ruesche, 1802/1837 genannt

Laut Kaufvertrag vom 28.

1763 married Johann Heinrich Ruesche - Ilse Marie Bocks

1801 married Juergen Ruesche - Annemaire Lindemann

1825 married Catharina Marie Ruesch - Kanonier Juergen Heinrich Blanke von der Hufe

(1834/1894) Heinrich Friedrich WIETERS - Marie Dorothee Johanne Blitz aus Ahlden (1835/1891)

(1865/1944) Heinrich Friedrich WIETERS - Marie Georgine Meta Prinzhorn aus Stoeckendrebber (1867/1925)

(1894/1953) Hermann WIETERS - Marie Caroline Heidorn, Mandelsloh (1893/1968)

1925 born Friedrich WIETERS - Gisela Guenther, Norddrebber born 1935

Grundbesitz 1837: 7,11 Mg
Grundbesitz 1989: 3,29 ha"

Perhaps one of our German contributors would translate for you, as my German is not adequate to get everything exactly.
You can see that there is still a WIETERS in the house and perhaps you will be able to meet your Norddrebber cousin! We first found this home village of the Paulings in 1983 and found the people of Norddrebber to be warm and friendly, and we are so happy to have new friends in the village.

The book does have a picture of the house and I would be happy to scan and send it to you off list if you like.

I am happy to meet another descendant of Norddrebber!
