I am new to this list. I apologize that I do not speak German.
I am trying to find out where my Weinke relatives come from. I have an excerpt from a written document written by my 2 great grandfather.
"When I was born, July 13 1851, they lived at Sachau, bei Spiegel, Kreis Dramburg, Regierungs Kesslin in Pommern. Ahnswalde sixteen miles distant was the capital. We lived there for fourteen years. Lauernburg was a nearby city."
/Also later. . . /
"Then we were confirmed. I went to school till fourteen in Danzig. This town was owned by two men, one on each side of the town, with all the families working for them living in between. Lauernburg was the name of the place where I was confirmed in 1865."
I have been unsuccessful using google and maps through google. I am very new to understanding Pommern.
I am hoping that someone can help me find where this is and what it would be called today.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

which you can find here:
It is not easy to find the towns on Google today, because the names changed, pomerania belongs to
Poland now. Try to find an old map, that will make it easier to find the towns.
There was town named Gross Spiegel in the county of Dramburg, but I couldn´t find Sachau, maybe it was
Zuchow?
I think you will get a lot more help from the people reading the pomeranian mailing list, who know
much more than I do.
