Hi Rita,
Could your Munich, which is Mnchen on the map, be Mnchengladbach? This is near to the current Dutch border and you'll probably find it's well known to NATO personnel stationed across in Holland. To get to Hamburg, I'm sure your family would have had to cross a border into another kingdom/dukedom. Maybe the two local archives of Mnchen(gladbach) can tell you if their local migration records still exist.
What names are you looking for - a lister may be able to say which district they originated.
Rena in England
Rena, I am looking for the Gieselmann family. Using the German phone
book it seems they are all over Germany.
Accorrding to family lore they came from the wine regionand landed in
New York. Supposedly several members came together, but got seperated and my
branch ended up in southern Indiana.
I am checking on a Gieselman family who arrived in Syracuse, Onondaga co.
NY. Its a long shot that they are related, but if I can find a
connection and where they originated from then I can persue in Germany. I am
open to any ideas. Thank you.
