Westfalen - Hannover border

Greetings;
I am wondering about the boundary between Westfalia and Hannover. Both of
my great grandparents were born just north of Melle. My ggf was born in
H�statte (Hustadte) and those records are kept in the Lutheran church Buer.
My ggm was born in Barkhausen which is closer to Rabber and those records
appear in Bad Essen. It seems from some maps that the 2 lived in differnt
"kingdoms" when they were born in 1839 -1841. Is it possible that between
these 2 villages separated by about 6 km was some type of boundary?

All of these areas were part of the Fürstbistum Osnabrück
which came to Hannover in 1803. This post should be more
properly continued on hannover-l.
