I am looking for any info on Westerheide family in Germany. I have Frank WESTERHEIDE b. 1829 Hanover and d. 1913 Ohio, USA. He married Mary Elizabeth NEGENDS in Hanover about 1847. She was born in 1832 in Hanover. He immigrated in 1857. His father may have been Henry Caspar WESTERHEIDE b. abt 1809 and his mother may have been Sophia ROTHHAUS.
Hello,
These are the Westerheide names from the emigrant database of Osnabrück:
PERS Westerheide s. a. Rose 9943
PERS Westerheide, Anna Sophie 9943
PERS Westerheide, Franz Heinrich 9822
PERS Westerheide, Franz Heinrich 9939
PERS Westerheide, Franz Heinrich 9940
PERS Westerheide, Franz Heinrich 9941
PERS Westerheide, Georg Heinrich 9942
PERS Westerheide, Heinrich David 9943
PERS Westerheide, Johann Caspar 9943
PERS Westerheide, Maria Catharina 9822
PERS Westerheide, Marie Catharine 9939
PERS Westerheide, Marie Elisabeth 9941
PERS Westerheide, Marie Gertrud 9944
PERS Westerheide, ohne Vorn., weibl. 9938
From what I can tell, they all come from Borgloh which is north of Hilter,
southeast of Osnabrück and west of Melle. If you think they are your
family, you can do one of two things: order the records from Osnabrück.
Or--if they were Catholic, you can go to an LDS center and order the
Catholic church records from Borgloh and view them - they are not complete
at all. If they were Lutheran, I'm not sure if they would have gone to
church in Hilter or Melle. The LDS records from Hilter are also very
incomplete, but there are some.
I'm sure that there are many other Westerheides and so I don't want to
mislead you on this matter. If you want to order the emigration records,
let me know and I will send you some directions. The problem there is the
duplication of names. Did Frank's parents also emigrate? Note that the
Casper name and the Sophia name have the same numbers.
By the way, there are 13 Westerheides from the Hilter area listed in the
German phonebook today. I couldn't find Negends anywhere in Germany.
Good luck,
Barbara
