West Prussia

Hello John,

she was born in Podjazy, Suleczeno. Her married live she spent in Kartuzy. Her husband was a Bela. I have not been able to find out yet, whether Belas were Kaszubs. They have lived in the Saworry, Chmielno area for a long time, fishermen, guesthouse owners. My grandfather told me the Belas came from the Hungarian area. He divorced her over the Corridor conflict.
In my kaszub line are Gruchalla Wesierski, Polczynski, Sikorski, Zelewski, Mach-Podjaski, Malek, Bronk, Dulak, Lliniska, Koytali Kiedrowski, Czielinski, Czarnowski. At times Kaszubs would carry three names, their tribal name, the name of the town and a transated name, either german or polish. Czarnowski out of Czarn, Wesierski out of Wesiory, Podjaski out of Podzjazy, Kostowski out of Kistowo, but Jezewskis from Wittkens, Zelewskis von den Bach. A very interesting part of history, the Kaszubs.

with regards,
Andrea
