Seeking information re birthplace and parents of Henry WENZEL b: 26 Nov
1805 Hannover,
Ger. d: 21 Oct 1870 Callicoon, Sullivan County, NY, USA.
He married Wilhelmina PAPE (Surname not confirmed) b: 1804-1805 Ger. d:
about 1856 NY, USA
They had two children born in Germany:
Frederick WENZEL b: 1827-1828 Ger.
Doris/Doretta WENZEL b: 1829-1830 Ger.
There were 7 additional children born in the US
Henry and his family immigrated to the US about 1830 and took up residence
in New York, NY.
Henry is said to have been an accomplished cabinet maker, a trade which he
learned in Germany. In the US he started a sawmill and lumber business.
Both Protestant and Catholic churches in the city of Hannover say they have
no record of the family. I believe that the family was Protestant. Any
leads would be welcome. I will gladly exchange information with anyone
having information about or a connection to this family.
