Hello everyone,
My cousin was institutionalized at the WEAV ERKEROEDER HOME (Kinderheim) in
Western Germany in 1950 or 1951. The died there in 1955 of pneumonia at the
age of ten.
Would anyone be able to help me locate this Institution? My family lived in
Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, so I am assuming it was not far from there. I wish
to locate her burial site.
Thank you.
Marion
Hello Marion,
I think the town is Neuerkerode.
Try this site: www.neuerkerode.de, you can contact the "Ev. Stiftung
Neuerkerode" and ask for this "Kinderheim".
Best wishes
Natascha
Hello Marion,
The Erkerode Hospital is still existing. It's an home for mentally
handicaped children today. It's close to Braunschweig and is a very small
village in direction to the Elm forrest. You need a very good map to find
it. Braunschweig and Salzgitter-Lebenstedt are also in the same area.
Have a nice weekend.
Wolfgang from Braunschweig

The glory of friendship is not the outstreched hand, nor the kindly smile,
nor the joy of companion. It is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one
when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust
him with his friendship.
