Warnecke Abell

Looking for the parents of Christian, born 8 Feb. 1832, Hannover. What part I do not know. He was in Alton, Madison Co., Il. where he married 11 May 1862 to Rosine Abell, born 15 May 1845, Hannover. They moved across the River to North St. Louis Co., Mo. and attended Salem Lutheran Chruch in Black Jack, North St. Louis Co., Mo. and all their children were baptized there. I still am a member at Salem. Any hekp would be greaatly appreciated.

Including I think... that of your Rosa Warnecke.

Here a volunteer has provided some Salem Lutheran Church records online including a baptism of a

Interesting information about church.

Salem Evangelical (German) Church of New Bielefeld (now known as Black Jack) was organized by Rev. C. H. Schliepsick as the first pastor in 1848. The original log church was completed in 1851, replaced in 1861 by a brick church. The present church was dedicated in 1899.

Data about the church and records curtosy of S. Knighton.

Wonder if New Bielefeld might be clue to former residence of early church members??

B.

Perhaps persuing data on witness', lateral families listed on death certificates might assist in your church.

Hello,

I thought of the same thing as Barbie about Bielefeld being the town
they may have come from. It probably is the case that some people in that
town came from there. The problem is the Warnecke family came from Hannover
and Bielefeld is in Westfalen. The LDS have a lot of records from Bielefeld
if you want to check that out. However, perhaps that would be a shot in the
dark. Warnecke seems to be a rather common name.

Barbara

Dear Barbara,
Could your search be going to the province of Hannover and not the city of Hannover? I think Westfalen is there.
Regards,
Ghyll

Hi Ghyll,

I am presuming that Vertrees said his family was from Hannover, the
former Kingdom, not the city of Hannover. In any case, Westfalen bordered
Hannover and was not a part of it. I could be wrong about what Vertrees
meant when he said his Warnecke was from Hannover.
