I would like to know which of the rootsweb search sites I should post for my ggrandfather who was born in Moselle about 1839. His name is Nicholas Wahl (Wall). I have seen his given name spelled Nicholas, Nicholi, Nicholai. He came to Louisiana and married a lady named Bernier. I have pretty good data regarding his life in America but nothing prior to his leaving Europe.
I have other data that says he was born in Alsace. Is Moselle in Alsace or vice versa? I am just starting on the Wahl (Wall) name and not well versed in that area.
