Dr. Stefan Remme has worked on the history of the parish of Herzlake and the towns
belonging to this parish. Under #2 Kirchenbuecher you will find extracts of the catholic
church records for Herzlake. He has done an excellent job and the baptisms (Taufen) and
marriages (Trauungen) are now complete. There is also a list of "Auswanderer" or
emigrants - perhaps you will find your ancestors listed here.
Additionally, he has prepared farm histories for each of the family farms located in
Herzlake and its surrounding villages. The Vorwerk family comes from Bakerde
and a farm history (in German) can be found here:

At this website you will find picture(s) of the farm, a history of the farm inheritors, and a history
of the farm including the meaning of the name, whether it was enfeoffed to a noble family, etc.
