Verwandten aus Nienburg / Wesser

Hi Rick,

as Wilfried Petersen already wrote in his reply to your request, the tip above is (sorry) nonsense. Microfilmed church books of Nienburg/Weser and surrounding places are available at "Kirchenbuchamt Hannover" since this area is today part of the German state "Lower Saxony" (former "Hannover" area) and not of the German state "Northrhine-Westphalia".

Anyway regardless which way you choose to contact the "Kirchenbuchamt Hannover", they don't provide any kind of "search services" by themselves and only provide the advice to contact a professional genealogist in order search the available records on your behalf.

Other than that, since -a little contrary/different to your original request for help- you now directly refer to Nienburg/Weser and no longer to Lohe/Marklohe -which is very close to Nienburg/Weser / or the other villages you mentioned in your original post- I did a quick look up in the Family Heritage book for Nienburg/Weser. The family name "Lohmeyer" / "Lohmeier" (or spelling variants of it) does not appear in this book. That being said I think it may be a waste of time, efforts and money to search for further information regarding your ancestors in Nienburg/Weser.

Since parts of my own ancestry also originate from Nienburg/Weser and surrounding places, I already did research there.

Best,
Vera (Nagel), Germany

Vera,

Thanks so much for the advice. You probably saved me time and money. I
want to schedule a trip some day to do some research. It'll pay off, I
hope, to get all of this information ahead of time.

Good evening,

sorry to come that late wioth my comment. I did not follow the discussion from the beginning. Well, I would not exclude that there is information in the "Landeskirchliches Archiv in Bielefeld" about villages in Lower Saxony. The parish of Ovenstädt belonging to North Rhine Westphalia (Kreis Minden) includes several villages in Lower Saxony: Brüninghorstedt, Harrienstedt (Bramerloh, Halle, Westenfeld) and Glissen.

And sorry I havent read the original message. Is there any indication where the Lohmeyers come from? The name is quite common in the north of the Minden area adjacent to the Nienburg area.

Regards

Jürgen (Sturma)

Hello Rick,

Jrgen is right:
a certain area southwest of Nienburg so as Petershagen and Ovenstaedt
belonged to Westfalia.

BUT NOT MARKLOHE (north of Nienburg)!
It always had been part of the Kingdom of Hanover.
So Hannover will be the right adress for you to search!

I have a great family around Nienburg, but no Lohmeiers.
Even this family name is not rare in the region.

Regards!
