They were from Weberstedt, Thuringia. It is a small family of noble origins
and important in the history of Germany. The name has several variations
(see my signature), but, at the time of immigration, they were all using
Uttrodt. All variations of the name are related. The transcription of
their names is often woefully buggered up. I would like to stem the tide on
their failure to be included in immigrant databases before they totally sink
into obscurity.
I have scanned copies of all the original ship manifests. They were
processed at Castle Garden, not Ellis Island.
