Gunter and Werner,
Thank you so much for the information! We went to the local Family History Center on Tuesday and were able to view the parish records of St. Catherine in Dinklage. In reviewing the information on the Kenkel family on your webpage, we were able to piece together facts to trace the family back to the mid-1600s, so we really appreciate your help.
We will follow your advice and start searching Munster for the Uekotter line. One of my brothers thought they may have come from Bielefeld or Gutersloh. Are there any resources to research that area?
We have names and dates for Anna Catharina's and John Herman's descendants. As soon as we collect the information together we will send it to you and help you update the database. They are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cincinnati.
Our brother also gave us information on another member of the family from Oldenburg. John Bernard Willenborg (born 13 November 1826, died 30 October 1906) married to Helen Gertrude Cuper (or Cupper?) (born 09 May 1831, died 13 March 1918). The Cuper family emigrated around 1841 and the Willenborgs supposedly emigrated via Baltimore around 1848. Helen's father was Frederick Cuper. We found Willenborgs listed in the Dinklage parish records, but did not see this name. If someone could steer us in the right direction on that family, it would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Tim
